You know I said it’s true, I can feel the love, can you feel it too
I took a look at the iTunes Top 100 downloads in the UK this morning and I was surprised to see that it had a brand new number one – a track that I had never heard before by Rudimental called “Feel The Love”. Instantly catchy on first listen, the song features John Newman and is a perfect mix between commercial and dubstep. Released at the start of the week, the song is looking set for a #1 debut on the UK singles chart and I am looking forward to seeing it grow from strength to strength as it picks up on more radio stations across the UK and hopefully crosses over into the South African territory soon too.
This is one of few drum & bass songs that have managed to top the iTunes Top 100 and it is a clear sign of where the British market is heading as we get into the second half of 2012. While the US has not quite picked up on it, the dance trend does seem to be dwindling a little as people start getting more bored by some of the more generic hit singles (i.e. Gotye hitting #1 on Billboard, which I would have never thought would happen in the US) so there may just be potential for more crossover hits from different genres to take the international market by storm is releases are marketed and executed correctly.
