So I cross my heart and I hope to die – that I’ll only stay with you one more night – try to tell you no, but my body keeps on telling you yes

Maroon 5 has successfully revived their career thanks to the success of recent singles “Moves Like Jagger” & “Payphone”. I never thought they would get back on radio as much as when they were promoting Songs About Jane (“She Will Be Loved”, “This Love”) but it seems the guys are back and bringing more of an over-the-top pop sound along with them this year. What we have here is the latest single from the project, titled “One More Night”. Written by Adam Levine and produced by Shellback and Max Martin, it’s no wonder the song is perfectly engineered for top 40 radio. I get some definite Rihanna-vibes in the first verse too and from the perspective of someone who on a weekly basis picks songs to move to and from a top 40 at a radio station (MFM 92.6), I must say that I approve of what I hear.

I can definitely see this one performing well on radio around the world and on first listen I have to admit that I’m more of a fan than I was when I first heard either of the two tracks mentioned earlier. Their new album Overexposed is out on June 26th so be sure to pick up a copy if you like what you’ve heard so far! I look forward to hearing what they’ll be bringing to the table and am particularly curious about a track of theirs done with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic called “Lucky Strike”. Don’t let me down Tedder, Levine!

Do you think Maroon 5 has sold out with this sound, or are you on board?
