Everybody in the club, all eyes on us – I wanna scream and shout, and let it all out
My friends know I’ve been following will.i.am since the early days with the Black Eyed Peas and I (contrary to most of the world) did in fact really enjoy his 2007 solo album Songs About Girls. He’s been hard at work on #willpower, the follow-up album, and after a couple of failed single attempts he has enlisted pop superstar Britney Spears to lend her voice on “Scream & Shout”, the new mainstream single. Added to ten new stations in the United States this week and currently #2 on US iTunes, “Scream & Shout” is being well received by the general public and looks to be just what he needs to launch his second solo album’s promotional era. I was not initially convinced that the song worked when I first heard it but upon a couple more spins I realised it would work pretty well in the club scene as a whole. It was when I realised that I no longer relate too much to club music (being 24 years old and all and moving into a different phase of my life) that I felt particularly old(ish) relative to everyone who has wrapped up their final year of school and will be waiting to hear this one in the clubs during their long December break!
Regardless I am excited to watch how this one charts around the world and I am interested to see how my presenters and South Africans in general will react to a Britney with a weird British accent. Let me know what you think about this one (hit or miss?) in the comments section below or alternatively drop me a tweet and a follow on @conradwashere. We can argue it’s worth all you want on there.
