Give me, give me all your love – if you can’t hold on then baby, don’t save me now

It’s a brand new year, so it’s a good time for fresh talent to start doing their rounds! One of these talents that I’d like you to get on board with right now – trio sisters HAIM. Crowned the winner of the acclaimed BBC Sound of 2013 poll this month (which in recent years predicted the popularity of major recording artist winners 50 CentKeane, Ellie Goulding Jessie J), these girls are looking to make waves in the music industry in particular with their latest single, which is titled “Don’t Save Me”. Signed to Polydor records, these ladies are geared to take on 2013; since the track premiered on Radio 1 back in October it has re-entered the UK Top 40 and is slowly making it’s way to the higher regions as they start to get more popular. The video has just hit 1 000 000 hits on Youtube.

What I like about this song in particular is that it has a conventional pop sound with a bit of an 80′s/TLC/R&B spin. It seems almost like the opposite of your typical generic pop radio hit and I am excited to track its progress in the coming weeks. I’m not too sure it has a share of crossover potential into the US market just yet but I think the focus should be squarely on the UK market for this year. Their sound will evolve consistently in the next year or so but they first need to build a strong following through local tours and a big push on UK radio. I’m doing my part over here in South Africa by pushing the single on our local radio station and hopefully it will gain some commercial appeal as well in the coming weeks. Make sure you do the same wherever you are from and support good music by buying your copy of the single if it is available in your region!

What do you think about HAIM?

  1. Stick to the local market yes but I agree that these girls have a lot of appeal. Been hearing this a lot on the radio in London.

  2. Sarah Arnold Says:

Different but not so sure it has lasting potential will have to wait and see
