Cause we got that fire, fire, fire, yeah we got that fire, fire, fire – and we’re gonna let it burn

Brand new Ellie, yes! The British beauty is re-releasing her latest album as Halcyon Days on the 26th of August and I am very excited about the news. The album will have seven brand new tracks, including collaborations with MadeonDJ FreshNate Ruess from fun.! One of the brand new tracks will serve as the lead single and I’d like to share it with you today. “Burn” was co-written with Ryan Tedder and produced by Greg Kurstin. Originally set for Leona Lewis on her Glassheart project, “Burn” is a decent radio song that is certainly going to do well for the singer in the United Kingdom and having heard the Leona version I can certainly say that it was the correct decision to release it through Ellie instead.

Lyrically the song is definitely more geared for radio than any of the other songs we heard on Halcyon (though I will say I prefer when her songs have uniquely developed choruses, like in “Figure 8″ or “My Blood”) and while it wasn’t as instantly catchy as “Anything Can Happen” for me it has grown on me quite a bit in recent days following a couple of spins. The music video – while released a little early in my opinion given that the radio date for the track is about six weeks away – does definitely do the song justice and is simple and very Ellie.

I’m looking forward to tracking the progress of this one and hopefully it’ll help her continue what has been quite a good run in the last year. Make sure you support “Burn” by requesting it on your local radio station and be sure to buy your copy of it on iTunes when it is available in your territory.
