And I said I wouldn’t cry about it, I… – this is the last time
This morning I woke up having decided to share with you the most played song on my iTunes playlist that I haven’t blogged about! You’ll be happy to know that this one is number 25 on my all-time most played list, meaning I’ve shared the first 24 with you already. The National is a band I’ve been following for a couple of years and I am particularly intrigued by their most recent album, which was released back in May and which has helped me through a couple of very difficult times. Commercially it hasn’t been the best performer but fans seem to have also taken well to the project and I particularly enjoyed “Fireproof”, “Don’t Swallow the Cap” and the one I want to share with you today (which is undoubtedly the standout track on the project), which is called “This Is The Last Time”. My friends will tell you that I’m a sucker for a ballad like this one (side note: go and Google Sia “Breathe Me” to hear where the love started), and I particularly enjoy the way the song is put together as a whole. The production is on point and the lyrics are absolutely amazing. There are times when I just sit listening to the song on repeat with the lyrics open, I relate to them on quite a personal level.
While I don’t see the song receiving any form of radio airplay in the near future I do believe it is one for your collection so if you like what you hear make sure you go and pick up your copy of Trouble Will Find Me. The fact that you are unlikely to hear this one on radio of course doesn’t mean you shouldn’t request these guys on the radio if you like what you hear, who knows, the song might just eventually get a radio release (and I know for a fact they are pushing “Sea of Love” on air at the moment). In the meantime we can enjoy the track for what it is – amazing music. Let me know what you think about “This Is The Last Time” by sending me a tweet to @conradwashere and check back soon for more updates.
