It’s going down, I’m yelling timber – you better move, you better dance

Rapper Pitbull is getting ready to release his eighth studio album! It’s hard to believe that he has had such a long career and while it has felt like he hasn’t left radio in recent years I do have to admit that the last couple of months did seem rather Pitbull-free in terms of airplay. I know he was pursuing some sort of a side project that was sampled to local radio but my station didn’t quite take to the song so it didn’t make it onto a very strong rotation. What I am absolutely sure of is the fact that his new single “Timber” – which was released this week – will be hitting the top 40 soon, given the general production and the solid feature vocal from popstar Ke$ha. “Timber” reminds me of “Wake Me Up” (Avicii) in certain places and generally it does sound like a song that Ke$ha could have made into a hit for herself. I am happy to be able to introduce you to this one today as I am definitely a fan and will be keeping a close eye on how it does around the world in the coming months, especially considering how dominant the female pop vocal is currently on charts from all over.

“Timber’ should be taken for the pop song that it is and appreciated for the fact that it works for radio and in the clubs. I’m intrigued to see who else Pitbull enlists to collaborate on his new project and as always I’ll take a listen and hope to hear some development in his sound. Be sure to let me know what you think about this one by dropping me a tweet to @conradwashere and be sure to buy your copy of the song if it is available in your territory on iTunes; currently the song sits at #11 on US iTunes so my initial indicators point towards it being a future hit. What can one expect though, given that Dr. Luke has a production credit on here! The man is all over radio at the moment and this will help to continue his reign as the it producer in pop music at the moment. Hope you enjoy!
